Northwest to commemorate Veterans Day with activities & exhibits

Northwest Missouri State University is commemorating Veterans Day with exhibits and activities.
Director of Partnerships and Placement at Northwest, Jill Brown, says the event is meant to give a hands-on experience.

"In the past we have tended to take a more solemn approach, but this year, we decided to liven it up a bit and encourage people to more live the life of a military service member and experience the hands-on-ness that those that serve our county get to experience on a daily basis. "

Brown also says the events will include physical challenges and an exhibit of military vehicles.

"We have a number of events.  We have a water jug relay, a night vision goggle demonstration.  We're going to have a push-up station and of course a pull-up station.  We'll also have the ability if people want to put on face paint, like what you would wear if you were in the military.  And also to take photos and also to see the military vehicles that will also be present that day."

The Veterans Day Celebration begins at 6:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. November 11th at the Carl and Cheryl Hughes Fieldhouse. The event is open to the public.
